The Temple of Antoninus and Faustina was originally dedicated to Faustina the Elder, the deceased wife of Emperor Antoninus Pius, who was deified after her death in 140 CE. After Antoninus' death and deification in 161 CE, the temple was rededicated to he and Faustina by order of his successor, Marcus Aurelius.

The temple of Antoninus and Faustina is located in the Roman Forum. The temple was built in 141 AD by Antoninus for his wife, Faustina. Antoninus was infatuated with his wife and declared her a goddess. When Antoninus died, he was also deified and the temple was re-dedicated to both him and his wife, with an inscription, by Marcus Aurelius. Theā€¦
