Trajan’s Column is a triumphal column that commemorates emperor Trajan’s victory over Dacia. It is situated near the Quirinal Hill on the north side of the Roman Forum. Apollodorus of Damascus, at the order of the senate, supervised the construction of Trajan’s Column. Trajan’s Column was crowned in 1587 with a figure of St. Peter on its top.
