Title

Domus Aurea

Description

After a large portion of Rome was destroyed by 64 AD's great fire, Nero decided to use the newly available land to build himself a lavish palace. The palace currently lies beneath the Baths of Trajan near the Esquiline Hill as future emperors recognized the public outcry against the palace's grandeur, abandoning the residence and ultimately repurposing it.
